Raúl elected as delegate to 7th Party Congress from Segundo Frente

Santiago de Cuba, Segundo Frente (Granma International) – Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee and President of the Councils of State and Ministers, was elected as a delegate to the upcoming 7th Party Congress from this municipality in the Sierra Maestra mountains.

As a great honor and responsibility, the 221 general secretaries of grassroots Party units unanimously elected Raúl and four other outstanding revolutionaries to represent the township, where residents have historically maintained a special affection for the founder of the Frank País Second Eastern Front during the guerilla war.

Speaking for the provincial party executive bureau, Hermes Alonso Sánchez presented the nominations which also included María Esther Padilla Rodríguez, administrator of La calabaza UBPC (Basic Unit of Cooperative Production); Inolaidis Kindelán Dugué, president of the Emilio Bárcenas Pier UBPC; Dr. Emilio Sosa de la Cruz, member of the Cuban brigade which combated Ebola in West Africa; and Luis Vinent Perera, president of the National Association of Small Farmers in the province.
