Camaguey, Cuba, Sep 2 (Prensa Latina) – More than 6000 students from 30 countries from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia are enrolled at the University of Camaguey Ignacio Agramonte (UCIAL) in the 2015-2016 school year that began here today.
Santiago Lajes, president of the UCIAL university located some 570 kilometers east of Havana, said that 3,800 students of the total were enrolled in the daytime course, which has the highest enrollment in the last ten years.
UCIAL is the result of the merger (in September 2014), of the University “Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz” with the University of Pedagogical Sciences “Jose Marti” and the University of Sciences of Physical Culture and Sports “Comandante Manuel Fajardo”.
He said that this school year will be dedicated to the 7th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), to be held in April next year.
He also said that the science policy will continue to be improved, prioritizing research projects that lead to higher results in the field of science, postgraduate courses and increased training of doctors.
