Thousands Visit Cuba to Celebrate Intl’ Labor Day

Havana, Apr 28 (Prensa Latina) – Nearly 1,700 representatives of organizations, social movements, and solidarity activists from 68 countries will march along with Cuban workers on May Day in the country”s many squares.

Many of the 1,691 who have already confirmed their attendance planned their visit months ago, and in case of workers, went to no small trouble to coordinate the dates of their visit with their earned vacation time, in order to finance their trips.

Participants convened by the Cuban Workers Federation (CTC) include 829 workers from 214 organizations, among them Uruguay with 158, Argentina 107, Brazil 93, Colombia 74, Mexico 65, and Chile 60.

Guests from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) total 862, organized in 37 groups from 26 nations, to celebrate International Workers’ Day here.

An extensive representation will also attend the International Meeting of Solidarity, to be held at Havana’s Conference Center on May 2.
