Solidarity with Cuban 5 in El Salvador-Guatemala Mountain Top

San Salvador, Aug 6 (Prensa Latina) The cause for the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States was taken by El Salvador solidarity organizations to El Chingo volcano peak, shared with Guatemala.

After an exhausting ascent until the peak of the steep mountain, 1,775 meters above sea level, participants ratified the demand of immediate release of those fighters, held in that northern country over 13 years ago.

Leaders of the Salvadorian Coordinating Committee of Solidarity for Cuba stated that the rally is part of actions within the world campaign “Five Days for the Five,” as they are universally known.

Participants, mostly women and youth, held a rally in a group of rocks, at the volcano’s crater, on one side, and an impressive abysm, on the other side.

Rafael Valdes, of the committee in the western city of Chalchuapa, said the world mobilization will allow their return home, which will be not only a great joy for the Cubans, but also for the Salvadorians.

The rally also denounces the injustice committed against Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez, and cruel treatment their relatives have undergone, some of them have been prevented from visiting them, Valdes stated.
