Cuba marks 55th anniv. of the assassination of Frank Pais and Raul Pujol

Santiago de Cuba, July 30, (RHC) – The people of Santiago de Cuba will pay homage this July 30 to revolutionary martyrs Frank Pais Garcia and Raul Pujol, as Cuba commemorates the 55th anniversary of their assassination by thugs of the Batista dictatorship.

Thousands of people will participate in the traditional pilgrimage to the city’s cemetery of St.Iphigenia, where Frank and his companion’s remains were laid to rest.

Also, a commemorative concert will be given by Cuban pianist Frank Fernandez at the Sala Dolores in the eastern city.

Fernandez told reporters that the concert is an opportunity to remember Frank Pais, a young man with a strong personality, an outstanding revolutionary leadership and musical sensitivity, who died for Cuba’s freedom.

Frank Pais García and Raul Pujol were young Cuban revolutionary fighters from the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba. They were assassinated on July 30, 1957.
